Governor Beshear appoints 欧美视频 professor to Kentucky Board of Social Work

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has signed an executive order appointing University of Pikeville (欧美视频) Professor Genesia Kilgore-Bowling, Ph.D., MSW, CSW, to the Kentucky Board of Social Work. Kilgore-Bowling, a dedicated social work professional and academic leader, will represent certified social workers on the Board, succeeding James Haggie, whose term has expired.

She currently serves as the chair of the School of Social Work at 欧美视频. With over two decades of experience, her diverse roles within the social work field in Eastern Kentucky have prepared her for this new regulatory position.

“I am excited about serving on the Kentucky Board of Social Work and incredibly humbled that Governor Beshear has bestowed this honor upon me,鈥 said Kilgore-Bowling. 鈥淭hroughout my 20+ years as a social worker, I have served the profession in many ways and look forward to this new role as a regulator. It is my hope that my experiences as a leader, a practitioner and a social work educator in Eastern Kentucky will help me to elevate the profession of social work in our Commonwealth.”

Kilgore-Bowling holds a Ph.D. in Social Work and a Master of Social Work from the University of Kentucky. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Human Services, and Communication from Pikeville College. In addition to her academic and professional contributions, she is the founder and faculty sponsor of the Student Social Work Association and the Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society at 欧美视频.

As a new member of the Kentucky Board of Social Work, Kilgore-Bowling will contribute to the board’s mission of promoting and protecting the practice of social work in Kentucky through effective regulation, policy development and advocacy.
